Basra Seawater Desalination Plant

Alrida Holding for Investment, in partnership with China’s Power China, is building the Basra seawater desalination plant, set to become the largest desalination plant in the world. The project marks a major step forward for Iraq’s water sector and puts Basra on the map of cities leading in water management.

The plant will produce one million cubic meters of high-quality drinking water per day, with storage capacity of up to one million cubic meters to meet the province’s needs through 2045. The project includes 265 km of distribution pipelines and a 340 MW power station to keep the plant running efficiently.

The project reflects the ability of Alrida Holding for Investment and Power China to deliver large-scale global projects, strengthening water security and improving quality of life for millions of people in Basra.
